Emblemas de la automoción
During the sixties, the Garriga family of Sabadell founded the DIVESPORT company, based in the same town, and headed by Feliu and Pere Garriga Gusi, with the encouragement of their brother-in-law, Antonio Amat Armengol. Divesport developed a “Dune Buggy”, based on the 1971 SEAT 600 E. The platforms were to be acquired directly from the factory, with the correponding mechanical parts. These were the same platforms that SEAT supplied to Motor Ibérica to build their SIATA make models. Antonio Amat designed the bodywork and the dashboard and instrument panel.
The polyester bodywork, manufactured by the TIDISA company in Terrassa, was mounted in a small workshop located in Font Nova Street in Sabadell, and the other components were added. A difficult objective was achieved in April 1972: the certificate of approval for the Drac Buggy from the Ministry of the Interior.
The model was presented at the Barcelona Motor Show in 1971, causing admiration, and was praised by the then Prince Juan Carlos and his wife Doña Sofia. The price of the Drac Buggy was 131,000 pesetas (787.00 €) with a luxury item tax of 16% on 75,000 pesetas. The on-the-road price was 146,000 pesetas (877,00 €)
Divesport produced a total of 75 units with an 4-cylinder 767 cc engine and a horsepower of 25 at 4,600 rpm., a weight of 450 kg and a maximum speed of 110 km/h.
The model in the collection of Grup Limousines, which carries the brand Divesport on the bonnet, was the last example to be manufactured.v
